That doesn't work when it is a NEW iphone. I am having the same trouble. There is nothing wrong with my internet. I have fiber and it is super fast. but it is taking FOREVER to get through the Software Update with little progress. This is my second attempt. Last night we tried and it just sat there for an hour doing nothing.

Well, did you try it?
Connect your computer using Ethernet, while performing the update? Force Restart your iPhone and then plug it in to the computer. And then proceed with the update.

Did you ever resolve this? I broke a lens on my phone and was sent a replacement and I’m unable to get it to even START the software update. The “Install Now” button won’t even let me click on it to start it! Yet there is a wheel turning to the left of it.
so frustrating!

What is happening when you're trying to set up your iPhone? If you want to use data transfer it Is important that you first perform a software update to the latest iOS, iOS 17.0.3
