If TNT are trying to replicate CBS they are really stupid. I'm pretty convinced that at some point one of Carragher or Richards is going to say something to Abdo on air that steps well over the mark. What they do already is borderline bullying.

Some of the things Kate says to Micah could be seen as borderline bullying but he laughs it off

It just has the impression of one of those situations where a) could someone if they felt uncomfortable really say so, b) it's positive and popular... until it isn't and then the same footage viewed again feels very different.

Jeff isn’t a surprise but Dan Walker is to an extent

  • I guess they needed a Simon Thomas replacement.

I'm not too surprised that Stelling is working for Amazon, although I wonder if he'll present any live games or just the Every Game Show. I'm not sure if the latter will run for the 26-28 December round as there aren't too many simultaneous games. I wonder if Steve Bower is no longer involved or if he might be used as a commentator now they presumably no longer have Peter Drury available.

Amazon normally release a full list of who's doing what game beforehand so hopefully we might get that soon. I'm glad likes of Logan, Champion, Tyldesley, etc are returning.

Stelling is due to start his Breakfast show on Talksport on Monday morning.

And thanks @YoungMan for the TNT Europa League details.

Just catching up, but also want to say what a disgraceful commentary on TNT of Galatasaray v Man Utd. Totally unprofessional, felt like I was in a fan zone.

If Dan Walker is their idea of a like-for-like Simon Thomas replacement then whew. Guess it doesn’t matter for just a few PL games a season but hopefully they aren’t intending on using him for the Champions League as well, think I’d rather have Jake Humphrey back.

This was in the PL rights thread .

The BBC are certainly looking to cut costs on a lot of programming.

I think Walker is fine in small doses but he does grate on me a bit after a while. I find his schtick ("See you on the telly box") a bit twee. I think he's fine at what he does but, like you, I much prefer Thomas. I'd probably take Walker over Humphrey but that's partly due to having been exposed to so much of Humphrey over the last 10 years.

I liked Walker a few years ago when he just did Football Focus, but seeing him more in the last few years has meant he's started to annoy me somewhat.

However, I certainly prefer Dan over Jake.

Mmm ‘twee’ is the perfect word. Perfectly suited to BBC Breakfast, where a serious-face presenter with gravitas would stick out like a sore thumb, but not really the vibe you want for coverage of big sporting events like the Premier League. His stint on the Olympics coverage two years ago became intolerable after a while. But good luck to him.

    RE. Daniel Mann

I've been asked to forward on a message about Mann from David Prutton, which was received by a poster on the ICDB with contact with Prutton

“ Paternity leave mate. Back after Christmas I’d presume”

FWIW, I quite like Dan Walker and good to see him dabbling in sport again. I thought he might one day although these days it’s safe to say he’s a news man. Prime could do a lot, lot worse.
